PRO/FILE 2068: a fast versatile and efficient information storage and
retrieval tool for the Timex 2068.

PRO/FILE 2068 lets you manage information with your TS2068. You can
use it for logging personal memos, scheduling appointments, compiling
statistics, cataloging inventories, indexing abstracts, recording research
data, managing a mailing list, and much much more.

PRO/FILE 2068 lets you store "files" or "screens" of data that contain
anything you want. Actual file length is not preset. The program has
a total capacity of 28,000 characters. Each file only takes up as much
space as the characters used in the file plus a few "overhead" bytes
to help the program run.

After data is added to PRO/FILE 2068, access to the files is provided by
means of a "relational linear search". In English, this means you type ina
word, symbol, or phrase that you know is in the file you want. The program
then displays every file that holds the matching word. Finding files on the
basis of just one word is really just scratching the surface of PRO/FILE's
capabilities, however. With this program, you can scan your files for as
many words as you like. You have a total of 32 characters inwhich to input
your "search command". That command can be just one or as many as

16 separate and distinct words.

As with PRO/FILE 2068's predecessor, ZX Pro/File, search time is fast.
Actual time, naturally, depends on what it is you're looking for and what
data you have stored in the program, but typically, you can get the file
you want on the screen in a second or less.

ADDing or EDITing files to PRO/FILE 2068 is simple. The program incor-
porates a totally flexible cursor driven text editor with many word pro-
cessing commands. You can type across the 32 column screen. Special
function keys move the cursor up, down, left, or right; insert text,
replace text, erase segments of a line, delete lines, insert lines, and car-
riage return.

PRO/FILE 2068 can print out any individual file or any group of files. You
specify just how the printing is to be arranged too. The PRINT FORMAT
can be as simple or as complex as you wish. You could, for example, use
the "ALL" command to print the entire file, or you could tell the com-
puter to print lines 1, 2, 3; skip a few spaces; print line 7, 5, and 2;

and repeat.

The display of files can be arranged alphabetically. You specify which line
of a file shall be used as the basis for ordering and PRO/FILE does the rest.
Both numbers and letters can be ordered, and combined with the program's
definable print capability, you can manipulate your files in some very un-
usual and interesting ways.
